Edit details:

- Create new layer from background
- The whole image was lightened using curves, and only lightening just the mid range and the white end just a little
- Using the blur tool set to strength 19%, I carefully blurred the hair that was away from the face (the image has some pixelation and it is noticeable in the hair, and besides *shrugs* its a portrait!)
- Using the lasso tool I select the eyes (whites included) the lips and roughly the area outside of the girls hair
- invert the selection (menu -> select -> invert)
- then feather by 10 (menu -> select -> feather)
- then press ctrl-h to NOT view the selection
- menu -> images -> adjustments -> variations
--- I used the following "formula" for the skin colour
* 2 red, 3 yellow (the numbers are how many lines from fine to coarse)
- Deselect (ctrl D)
- I've now decided the whole image could do with some more lightening so I use the curves again to lighten the midrange
- I've noticed that the green to either side of the girl, while it does reflect nicely on the shade of her eyes, detracts to much from the focus on the little girl so...
- Using the paintbrush, I select the colour black (white works just as well), for mode choose saturation from the drop down box and change the opacity to 10%. I've used a brush size of 34 pixels, but it all depends on how large your image is, and what area you are covering
- I use the paintbrush to carefully paint over the green areas in the background several times until they are at a saturation that doesnt detract from the little girl
- I've noticed that she still looks a little green so I select the the area around her nose (inc nose) and the area around her mouth, not including her mouth
- feather 10 pixels (ctrl h)
- I use variations to alter the colour by adding some magenta, red and yellow. Also making it a little lighter - deselect (ctrl d)
- Using the blur tool again, set to strength 15%, size 10 pixels, I zoom the image into about 300% and carefully blur over any obvious pixelation
- I notice that she has a few lines under her eyes, and I dont like them, so I use the patch tool and zoom in to about 200% to carefully select the areas that are brightly lined and then drag the selection to an area of smooth skin on her cheek (do to both eyes)
- using the paintbrush tool i select the strongest saturation (top right), set the mode for saturation, opacity for 20% carefully painting over the lips until they are the color i like and also paint over the eyes a few times to give the green a brighter colour
- From here I select the cheeks, feather, use variations to add a little red, then deselect
- select the whole image except for the eyes, using variations add a little red and a little yellow to give her a nicer skin tone.
